meeeemories...

minh: so are you still in thailand?
me: thailand? no. dude, i'm in california
minh: oh.. then why did you put "nang badu" in your nick before?

AWWWWW NANG BADU! made me smile hehe. i wonder how gibby (and friends) are? i should get my workmate to go to moose's and say hello for us when she goes next month.

so yes, i'm coming home soon!! i land at 7pm on tuesday september 27. i'm excited! and sad at the same time. i'm gonna miss my home away from home. as ghetto as some of the areas are, and as bored and lonely as i've been at times... i think i'm a little bit in love with san jose. sigh.

yesterday...

elaine: i hope you meet someone here and fall in love..
me: elaine. please.
elaine: what?! i want you to come back!
me: well so do i, but good luck to us. i'm only here for another 2.5 weeks

sigh. i want to come back. and if its not going to be for the company (refer my last post at usalisa) i need another reason.... hehe. its coming to an end so quickly!

if we go to NY next year can we make our point of entry san francisco please?

yay friends

thats awesome al! that must be a big old surprise hearing from Rodney all the way in Iraq! Glad to hear theyre safe! Sounds so scary though.. 'battle gear' .. woah.. i just imagine them in those combat suits and i get all scared for them! At lleast theyre working in an office right? Woot! and at least theyre going to be safe in 4 months time.. YAY! come to think of it.. thats scary at the same time.. that means its nearly the end of the year! OMG!

I wonder what it is about New York that makes people fall in love with it. I want to feel this intoxicating feeling of admiration for a city. Maybe i'll join you al.. hehe..

You know what though.. I reckon we're really lucky to live in Sydney.. All this comparing of places has made me really grateful I live in such a nice city.. I take living here for granted bad.. I mean.. we have the best of everything.. it's pretty hard to come across a rude person and as much as I complain about having nothing to do here.. at least theres something TO do! furthermore, people aren't pretentious but still sophisticated in their own right.. ah sydney.. <3 hehe.. i reckon i'd pick sydney over melbourne any day. Sydney through and through!

But.. yeh.. i reckon it'd be so exciting to relocate somewhere completely different.. even if it's just for a little while.. Al you're so lucky to be experiencing a whole different culture!

I kinda miss our hawaiian memories.. especially HIKING day! That was so fun! I must've pissed off my workmates by talking about my 'hiking' experience cos they just let me talk and i had the sneaking suspision that they weren't listening to me.. but.. it was so spontaneous and out of context for us that it was so fun!

Just realised you're coming home soon al! YAY!

oh yeh.. Nel! Are you doing the amazing race this year?

old friends

i woke my computer up a few minutes ago to find "poe18_2000 - Instant Message" flashing in my task bar. no joke, my heart skipped a beat. and then he typed "hey baby" and i think it stopped beating altogether. i just spent 4 hours on the phone with lori last night, filling her in on all our hawaii adventures.. and it made me remember how in love (used loosely :D) i was with rodney and brock. and here he is all of a sudden, chatting with me all the way from iraq =/ makes me smile and makes me sad all at the same time. he said it was hot and i joked about him getting a tan, but he said they have to wear "full battle gear" all the time. SIGH. i want them to come home and be.safe already! they should be back by jan21.. only 4 more months!

needless to say, i'm feeling really happy right now :D
at least we know they're safe.

so lori was telling me about new york last night. she said the same thing you did nel! that there's just something about it that makes you wanna stay forever. i'd LOVE to go. in fact... i'm going next year. i've decided. as fulfilling as my USA experience has been already, i don't think it'll be complete until i see new york. WHO'S COMING?

as for living there.. i don't know about that. i don't think i'm tough enough. hello, i'm having enough trouble standing up for myself in laid back california. people here are much more in your face, and just plain rude.. and i've still got this inherent need to be polite at all times (i'm a true sydney girl).. so i don't know how i'd handle actually living in new york.

hawaii though.. aside from san jose, that's probably where i feel most at home in this country. i agree nix - its the laid back feeling there. life seems breezy over there hehe. and not to mention the beach just down the street!

you know where i couldn't live? canada. toronto to be exact. not that its not livable.. but its not different enough to sydney to warrant me ever wanting to change my place of residence for it.

awww maunawili memories! that was such a great day! as hesitant as i was about it the night before at moose's, i'm soooo glad we did it! don't know if i'd ever do it again in australia though. nix did you tell your workmates about maunawili?

the long weekend.. i think it might be for labor day? i dunno. its been extremely boring though. all i've managed to do is spend all my money, watch like half a dawson's creek season, and blog a whole lot.

and the latino with nice eyes.. ehehehhe. yeeeeeh, that makes me smile.

up the weary mountain down the rusty trail..

aw.. we're getting comment spam :(

i get happy too... cos i really like this blog! it's so entertaining and it's globalisation at its best.. bringing people together!! heehehe

well.. i went hiking today.. it was the inal part of my melbourne trip for work.. it badly reminded me of maunawili (spl?) falls.. with the clear water and the fear of head cracking.. but it was nowhere near as exciting.. we had actual guides and .. it was cold.. and i didn't want to be there and i wanted to go skiing/snowboarding but i was too much of a tightass.. but still.. it was quite an experience!! i missed you guys though.. and i missed seeing something pretty at the end of the trek.. all i saw was shrubs and dead wombats.. gross.

anyways.. i reckon the reason i would pick hawaii as a destination of living is cos its so laid back.. although i know i'd probably like new york and a major city along those lines, i don't think i could live there.. it'd be too overwhelming for me.. but you'll never ever know till you something something go! but yeh.. since i am a laid back kind of girl, i think somewhere along the lines of sydney and good old hawaii are places for me! but still.. i would love to see it.. maybe next year :D

what is the purpose of your long w/e al? have fun!! and.. whatsup?? latino with nice eyes aye? heh jks. :D That hurricane Katrina seems really scary.. are American's all sad? The Southernites are in my prayers!

catching up

I love when the hawai'i 2005 item on my feed reader is bold when I open Abilon. So exciting - it's like the best email thread turned blog ever haha!

Something must've been different about speed holidaying last year because I don't think of Hawai'i as a place I could ever LIVE. I reckon it's a really excellent holiday spot but I couldn't call it home.

I love New York - I wish you guys could've done it. It's got this thing in the air about it when you're there and you just wanna stay there forever. Y'know in SATC, how Carrie just... love it? It's really like that. But I suppose it depends on whether you warm to the hussle and bussle of NYC life... we should def do it one day!

Work on Monday morning... great.

How's the long weekend Al??

Bye!

uni bar

oh i almost forgot! i went to a bar downtown last night and it badly reminded me of Red Lion (the original one). we would've had fun in there i reckon!

oh and my workmate is going to hawai'i next month. i'm so jealous =/

why hello there!

YAY! new posts!! i'm so happy.

haha yeh nix, i remembered that denver thing too when i had a layover there on my way home from toronto. its meant to be real pretty... solo says its beautiful there. and clean. i was cleaning my face the day i came home, and what i thought was dirt (but later realised was mascara) was on my cotton pad.. so i told joel i thought denver was dirty haha, but he told me its quite hilly and green and all fresh and airy.

i think i'd move to .. hawaii! (haha surprised?) 2nd choice would be san francisco... so.cal would be cool too but for some reason the bay area attracts me more. i'd be interested in living somewhere in NY state too but i've never really been to the east coast so i dunno.. and down south is kinda out of the question now thanks to miss katrina :(

i remember when i came back from the states in 2002 i was so happy to be home coz for some reason i didn't like the lifestyle here. now... i could definitely live here. i AM living here. and i like it!

solo and i... well that's a whole new post. i dunno girls. sigh. i dunno. but i've decided i'm not going to hawai'i again before i come home...

rescussitation

I don't even know if I spelt that right.

The Rockies are in Colorado - so you'd have mountain views and the sort if you ever had to move. We'd probably move to the east coast, LA or Seattle just coz we've got family there... ooh or MIAMI! Speaking of, my cousin went to Miami when the VMAs were on - she went to Jamie Foxx and Usher's afterparties. How cool would that be? We should go to Miami during an awards period so we can see celebrities! Coz I'm a groupie... sorry.

How is Solomon? Are you guys still "broken up"? I still remember the day you guys broke up - you guys looked so sad hehe

One of them's from Missouri, the other was from Louisiana - I think Edwards and Brock respectively...

I wanna go travelling some more. Maybe to a less urban place though...
